Jamal Hassan has expertise in project management and scientific research. Jamal manages a nationwide fisheries catch data collection project, which Secure Fisheries is coordinating in Somalia, in partnership with the FAO and the Somali government. Before joining Secure Fisheries, he was the Chair of the Marine Department at City University, Mogadishu, where he also lectured in general and organic chemistry. He also worked in the UK for fourteen years as a Somali-English translator. Jamal holds a Ph.D. in organic chemistry from the University of East Anglia, Norwich, UK.
