Environmental Education Workshop

The workshop was led by a Somali fisheries expert and included 20 participants from a local fishing cooperative.

It included discussions on basic marine biology, local marine and coastal ecosystems, destructive fishing gear and methods, and sustainable resource management plans. Fishers left with new knowledge to enhance the effectiveness of their cooperative and the community developed a better understanding of the consequences of fisheries competition and destructive fishing practices, and learned ways to avoid these unsustainable practices.
